98 Seabring $$ repair cost -battery tray rust removal?
I am curious about the time my specialized auto body mechanic charged me for a repair job. My 1998 Seabring convertible had a battery acid spill that caused rust to form all over battery tray. As some of you may know, the design of the seabring battery placement is strainge. You have to pull the wheel (rt. front), take off the under-fender skirting (cover). Then he sandbalsted the battery tray, after diagnosing that the rust was superficial, mainly on the coating originally on the battery tray. Then he painted with 2 coats of rust inhibinting coating. Dryed overnight, remounted battery and replaced skirting under fender and remounted the wheel. For this I was charged $680 for the equivalent of 6.8 hrs work. What do you think?

A question for auto body mechanics?
Yahoo Answers doesn't have a "Plymouth" category, so I had to put my question here.
My 1990 Plymouth Sundance was recently in an accident and hit in the rear end. The car is still 100% safe and driveable, but quite a bit of damage was done to the point that the rear passenger doors are jammed shut. Basically, the entire rear 1/3 of the car needs to be replaced (both rear fenders, the rear bumper, bumper supports, and bumper cover, hatchback tailgate, right tail light, and the fuel filler neck need to be replaced, along with various other small associated parts.)
I assumed that my insurance company would total the car given it's 16yr. old age, but they decided to pay to fix it instead because it's only got 23,000 original miles and is in very good shape. They say it should cost about $2,300 to fix and I thought this amount was low considering all the damage done to the car. So, does this amount sound about right or do you think it will cost significantly more to fix?
Hmm...some interesting answers so far. The insurance company made the decision to fix it instead of writing it off. That wasn't my choice. I can only figure they chose this because they think the value is higher than the estimated repair cost of $2,300. Personally, I would rather replace the car because I don't want a car with accident history, but I also don't want to lose money. So, I'll have it fixed if that's what they want to do. It's a good car and I have no reason to get rid of it otherwise. Let me add that as far as I know there is no frame damage. The car seems to track straight and handles just fine and I've been driving it like this for the past 2 months since the accident. There is no damage to the roof, to answer someone's question. Just the body panels mentioned.
