Do I have any legal standing?
I purchased a used 2003 SL500 Mercedes at a Mercedes dealership back at the beginning of March. The vehicle had 78,000 miles on it and was immaculately kept (at least I thought). I took the vehicle in to the dealership service center mid July for the 80,000 mile check-up and because the engine light had come on two days earlier. This vehicle is used as a "weekend" car for myself and hasn't seen rain since I've purchased it. Upon the "completion" of the check up and the engine light review, the service center left a message on my voice mail telling me what all they had "found". The check engine light was because of a purge valve leaking and that was going to cost $800 to replace and repair. Also, during the general checkout of the vehicle, they found that all of my motor mounts were fully collapsed, $1400, and my right rear strut was leaking and would need to be replaced, $2200. I told the service center that I didn't want them to do any of the repairs and that I was going to take it somewhere else to get another estimate. I picked up my car, paid for the maintenance and drove to work. Upon leaving work, I got in my car and tried to put the hardtop down and it no longer worked (which it did before I took the vehicle in). I called the service center back and kindly expressed my dissatisfaction with the service that I had received as well as the faulty convertible top that I got after leaving them. They said I could bring it back a few days later and that they would look at it. I declined their offer and started to drive home from work. On my way home, I stopped at a drive thru to pick something up. As I was sitting there, the engine RPM's started to die down and the A/C would decrease drastically and then they Battery light came on in the dash. This happened probably 4 or 5 times. I pulled out of the drive thru and went home and the car has been in the garage ever since (going on 2 weeks now). I bought this vehicle "as is". My question is, do I have any legal standing to try and go after the dealership to at least get them to pay for these repairs? After speaking with MANY different auto service centers and mechanically friendly friends, all have come to the same conclusion that there is absolutely NO WAY that I could have inserted all of these issues during the time that I have owned and operated this vehicle and the fact that I've put a mere 2200 miles on the vehicle myself. Obviously this is very upsetting, but I need to know if there is any way that I could hold the dealership responsible for these issues.

My girlfriend wants me to switch out of my Auto services class to do yearbook with her?
I recently signed up to take an automotive services class my senior year of high school. Its practically impossible for anyone to get in seeing as there are only 35 spots available for 10 schools to fill, i was excepted and I am planning on becoming an automotive mechanic outside of high school. Not long after i signed up my girlfriend of a year and a half (a junior) told me she wants me to drop the class to do yearbook with her, I don't know what to tell her. I'm not good with typing and writing and any of those things. I just want to be able to have a good future doing what i love but i love my girlfriend unconditionally and don't want to make her mad, at the same time I have to think about the future and the fact that we are absolutely certain we will be together a long time. That means i need to make sure I'm schooled and bringing home money. this class allows me to challenge courses at UTI and get my credits without having to take the class, which means no paying for them, just paying for the final test, and getting through college in half the time or less. I want to make sure that I keep my girlfriend happy and i don't want to do yearbook class. she gets very temperamental about these things and i just don't know what i should say or do to get her to let me take this class without putting me through hell.. i have till August 11th 2011 to decide or i'm stuck switching to yearbook to keep her from freaking out. thanks for whatever advice you guys give in advance. (i apologize, i'm not good with sentence structure and stuff, don't get all English teacher on me)

How do I know if my employer is stringing me along?
My husband is a manager/salesperson in his career with a corporation 44 locations strong. Within this company my husband is rated top of two salesmen/managers in profit and has been for 7 years. He is truly a wonder within his profession which is Auto Service adviser/manager and is really a diamond in the rough in his profession. He's been gloated on for years by the corporation itself which is a franchise corporation and therefore has many owners but is known by all of them and sought after. This is what I mean...He worked for the company for two years and was fired during a rough time in his bosses personal life and therefore the boss was sorry and begged him back for a year and a half with a hefty raise. Sales were slowly depleting while he was gone and when he agreed to go back, sales steadily increased. The owner of the store didn't want to be a franchise owner anymore and decided not to pay the fees and therefore forfeited his business lawsuits and all. The master franchiser took my husband into one of his companies after the president of the whole corp. called him and recommended he hire my husband. When he took over, the business was failing. My husband doubled profits two years in a row but knew the owner was selling it when he took over. The year after he was there the owner said it was "off the market" because he was doing so well. This is where it gets confusing....My husband doubled sales this second year and seems only made this business look more appetizing to potential buyers and sold this out from under my husband two weeks ago asking him to stay and train the new owners. Everyone else kept their jobs but him. The franchise manager told my husband he didn't want him to be working for the competitor and therefore had many different offers available to him withing the corporation. The first couple were laughable with salary but the last one seems great. You know the saying "if it's too good to be true"? This is what I'm wondering here. He interviewed with another owner who owns several locations and he told my husband he wanted to take over the original place of employment and include my husband as a %50 owner and they agreed it was a done deal if the person currently running it would agree because he's doing things that only results in another drug out court case if he doesn't agree. I'm wondering if it would be reasonable to think they would be just stringing him along to train the new owners because it seems to good to be true or if this is not something a corporation would do? They are good reputable company and have been great to my husband. He knows he's the best of the best because they've kept very accurate numbers and graphs for all of the corporation to see and everyone in the company even the marketing dept. ( I worked for the marketing dept.) knows my husband and their worst fear seemed to be him leaving but I'm just not sure if it's because the deal was happening or if they really want to replace him. I hope I was able articulate this situation to you all because I know it gets confusing but we have 5 kids and are so worried about our financial well-being. I can't see them stringing us along to that degree even if it benefits one new owner of this corporation. Does anyone have any advice on what he should do in the meantime? Does this sound too good to be true? Would a corporation go this far to hide their own gain? Do you think they'd let go of their proven top salesman? He's not arrogant and does a great job in all other areas too and gets along great w/the president who got him the job w/the master franchiser. They've followed my husband for years keeping him with them. Thanks for the advice you may have. The issue is that they are just "talking" right now and nothing is set in stone and until that time, he's unemployed. I'm worried about sitting around and waiting and not at least having a back-up plan. They seem like they honestly find him of great value but it's all been done behind his back that is scary. They told him they were selling so he knew it was a possibility but why when they told him they changed their minds didn't they tell him the second time around? Maybe they were afraid he'd freak and walk but they do know he's always wanted to be an owner and said that they believe he's one of the only ones who can ensure the success of this peticular store but what about in the mean-time?

how much does it cost to repair a cv axle and rotor?
I have an 04 ford focus. I kinda got into a little accident yesterday and now the front right tire is messed up along with the axle and some other things. Around how much would it cost for me to get that repaired? Parts, labor cost, and all? And is it cheaper for me to buy the parts and take them to the auto service place or would it be better for me to just let them do their job completely? i didn't hit another car* haha sorry. i was turning and accidentally let go of the wheel and hit the curb.
